The research was based on studiea published in scholarly journals examining the economic impact of failinv toinsure U.S. children. Researchers estimate that nearlyt eight million children inthe U.S. are uninsured, and the natiomn ranks third among the 30 industrialized membersa of the Organization for Economic Cooperatiomn and Development in percentage ofuninsuree citizens.
